Toronto Indoor Games status

The PPBSO Toronto Branch would like to share an update regarding the future of the Toronto Knockouts and the Toronto Indoor Games.

After thoughtful consideration, the PPBSO Toronto Branch is unable to continue our long-standing partnership with the 48th Highlanders of Canada Pipes and Drums and Moss Park Armoury. This will have the immediate effect of cancellation of The Toronto Indoor Games for 2026, as well as necessitating the need to find new venues for other scheduled contests. This decision, having been made in collaboration with the 48th Highlanders of Canada Pipes and Drums, reflects an evolution in the needs and geographic distribution of our branch members. It does not and should not be perceived as lack of appreciation for, or generous accommodation by the 48th Highlanders and the Canadian Armed Forces. The PPBSO Toronto Branch, as well as the PPBSO, are deeply grateful for the many years of support, hospitality, and collaboration provided by the 48th Highlanders. This support has played an immeasurable role in the success and history of our events.

Regarding the Indoor Games, we are not yet able to announce a new venue or date. Over the next few months, the Branch Executive will be evaluating opportunities to reimagine and reshape our Flagship event. In addition, and based on recent member feedback, there may be changes coming to the timing and nature of the Toronto Knockouts. There is also the potential for some new offerings in the 2026–27 season.

In recent years, attendance patterns and accessibility challenges have suggested that the timing, make-up, and location of these events are no longer as well-suited to members as they once were. As we look ahead, our priority is to ensure our events remain accessible, engaging, and foster a strong community of pipers and drummers in the Greater Toronto Area.
